Jessea Lu Wenjie, 31, freediver and researcher, China (May 2016)
Jessea is one of a growing number of mainland Chinese individuals who are carefully choosing their English or Western names and trying to make them more outstanding and novel. Jessea has certainly succeeded (see feature article about her here).
Alphaeus Yuen, author, Pearson English Test Papers, Pearson Education Asia Ltd, Hong Kong
Note: there is an Alpheus and Alphoeus but there is NO such name as Alphaeus (so being an educator of English, Alphaeus Yuen presumably understands the English landscape and therefore just wants to be different)
Perhaps Thomas Jefferson said it best with: “Reason and free inquiry are the only effectual agents against error“. Much error exists in the world and this blog, from the perspective of one Hong Kong SAR resident, is a small attempt to minimize errors.
